Schenker and PocketMobile signs agreement for 4.000 installations of PreCom
About the agreement
After a thorough RFP-process conducted in 2006 and 2007 Schenker and PocketMobile signs an agreement for installation of PreCom in Schenker’s 4.000 Swedish vehicles
The agreement covers PreCom base modules that Schenker is interested in, such as work order, bar code scanning and digital signature. It also covers the mobile needs of the 230 road carriers, which are representing the larger part of the 4.000 vehicles, such as ecodriving, positioning, navigation and time reporting.

- The advantages with the new solution is many. Our customers gets even better information about goods in real time, we radically reduce our environmental effect, we can make our traffic more effective by always knowing where the vehicles are and there are also other factors that have positive effect on traffic safety, says Invar Nilsson, Managing Director of Schenker AB.
- The new system sends information to Schenker’s customers in real time the same moment a driver, or terminal handles the goods. This means that it is possible to see where in the transport chain the goods are at any given moment, says Gunnar Ahlden, responsible for strategy and project support at Schenker. The new mobile solution also makes it possible for the road carriers to see information about fuel consumption and speed of every vehicle.
The road carriers that have tested the equipment have shown that it in extreme cases can save up to 15 percent of fuel.
- Schenker used a total amount of 110 liters of diesel during 2006. If we can save between five and ten percent, it would mean less discharge of carbon dioxide of between 14 and 28 million tones, says Ingvar Nilsson.
There are also a number of other reasons why Schenker is installing a mobile solution in all their vehicles in Sweden.
Communication between driver and traffic coordination gets more effective, partly because of the mobile solutions GPS positioning, which gives information about vehicles whereabouts, and partly because of the “silent” communication in the system. A traffic coordinator never needs to wait for a driver to answer a telephone and the driver sees that a message is received and can read it when it is suits him.
The mobile solution is delivered by the company PocketMobile and the mounting starts in spring 2008 and will be ongoing until summer 2009, when it is predicted that all 4000 vehicles will have been installed.

PocketMobile signs agreement with Concordia Bus, the Nordic market leader in bus transportation, regarding delivery of PreCom
General
During 2007 Concordia IT department and its subsidiary Swebus Express conducted an investigation regarding the market of mobile solution providers. The choice fell on PocketMobile and during the autumn in 2007 a PreCom pilot project where conducted. Now PocketMobile and Concordia Bus have signed an agreement regarding delivery of PreCom to the Swebus Express bus fleet.
